Confession has played a major role in my spiritual life. I am someone who likes to be in control and know what to expect in every circumstance.
This has led me to hold onto things I should not try to hold on to. So, oftentimes, confession personally tends to be me confessing that I do not hav power over this situation, that God’s will is good, and that I am a sinner who needs a savior and that I need to and can trust my Lord snd savior. Confession is often a part of congregational worship services. I love this because it reconciles us together into fellowship and draws us together through a call to worship in response to being forgiven by the Father. Confession in my experience also isn’t scripted, which I am glad for because having a personal experience in confession addresses doctrine of sin with a heart that yearns and desires forgiveness and reconciliation with God. It also helps to remind us to have guilty and rely on God’s mercy and grace in confession and repentance. In my own life, it could be healthy to analyze my heart and actions and see where my loves are ordered, see where I need mercy, and connect with God weekly in a retentive manner. In community life, my best friend and mentor act as my accountability buddies, where we all openly talk about sin and our struggles in our faith and walk with God and encourage and pray for each other to follow what God commands of us and to live like Jesus, walking in God’s love.
